Winter 2027 Leagues
Winter 2027 Travel Basketball (Grades 4-8)
For Grades 4 to Grade 8 - Practices start the week of November 9th, games start December
5th/6th. These are competitive, travel basketball teams. All interested participants must attend at
least one tryout date and advanced registration is required. The ABC posts team
placements at arlingtonbasketballclub.com on/by October 15th with the goal that every
player who tries out gets placed on a team. Teams are leveled evenly based on tryout
results. Once team placements are released participants must pay the fee by November
2nd in order to participate.
During the season each team will practice two times per week at one of the Arlington
public schools. Teams will play 12 Sunday games with 4-8 Saturday games (half of the
games are home games in Arlington; half are away in neighboring towns).
League Dates: Practices start the week of November 9th, games start December 5th/6th
and the season runs until March 6th/7th.
Fee: $499 per participant (uniform to be purchased separately, this info will be sent out by
the ABC when teams are released).
Only Arlington residents, or those who attend an Arlington Public School, are eligible to register for the Travel Basketball program. Non residents are not eligible to register but can be placed on a waitlist in case spots open up after all Arlington residents have been placed. All players must pre-register prior to try-outs online.
Tryout Information:
● Each gender/grade will have two tryout dates
● Exact dates for each grade will be posted by September 1st

● Days: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday
● Times: 6-7:30 or 7:30-9:00
● Players need to attend at least one tryout to be considered for a team

Winter 2027 Junior League (3rd Grade)
This in town league is for 3rd graders and serves as preparation for travel basketball,
which starts in 4th grade and plays in the MetroWest League. Teams will be formed
evenly and players will be on the same team throughout the season. Each team will have
one practice once per week (at one of the elementary schools) and practices start the
week of November 9th. There will be 4-6 teams, and each team will play 9 games total,
Sundays at Hardy School. Games will be exactly like travel basketball games are played:
32 minutes long, 4 quarters of 8 minutes each, stop time with referees. Games are
played full court, 4-4 (girls) and 5-5 (boys) on 8.5 ft hoops.

Winter 2027 1st/2nd Grade League
Registration is individual and players will be placed on a team and be on that same team
throughout the season. Each week will feature a 30-minute practice followed by a
30-minute game each against another team. Games are played 4-4 (girls), 5-5 (boys) and
will be played on 8.5 ft hoops. Coaches will be volunteers (if you are interested in being a
coach please contact arlingtonbasketballclub@gmail.com).
The emphasis of this program will be on teaching the participants how to play rather than
running plays and winning games. Each week, we will build on the previous week’s skills
and concepts. Then play games with a referee so players can learn and get used to how
basketball is played.
